Like many people, I'm becoming increasingly mindful of preserving the environment around me and it's certainly something I am building into my business as much as possible with the materials I use, so it's fantastic to see that sustainable and environmentally conscious fabrics are increasingly at the forefront of fabric designers development processes.
Kirkby Design are leading the way with a wonderful collection of plain, semi plain and textured weaves in a beautiful muted colour palette.
Their four new innovative collections support Trees for Life and The Marine Conservation Society and are made entirely of environmentally conscious sustainable materials such as 100% PET recycled polyester from waste plastic bottles, recycled wool and acrylic yarns from unused fabric offcuts from the fashion industry and tencel lyoncell sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Certified) eucalyptus trees.
The new collections, Fleck Eco, Wave, Flow and Leaf || reduce the impact on the environment without compromising on the quality of the fabrics which are stylish and soft to the touch - not what you'd previously imagine for eco friendly options! And the best bit, they're all fully recyclable, so they can be re-purposed for future use when you want to update your furniture!
